Blade-Free LASIK

Aurora LASIK is committed to providing our patients with the very latest technologies for vision improvement. We have invested in 100% blade-free LASIK because of the benefits it provides.

During a LASIK procedure, we use a Wavelight FS200 laser to create microscopic air bubbles to separate corneal tissue and make a thin, precise flap. This method replaces the traditional metal blade technique using a microkeratome.

Next, the flap is gently lifted to expose the underlying cornea layer, to be shaped according to each patient’s unique profile using the WaveLight Refractive Suite treatment protocol. This protocol allows Dr. Rudd to treat the higher-order aberrations (like a fine focus on a microscope). The result for most patients is outstanding vision and freedom from glasses and contact lenses.

Benefits of Blade-Free LASIK

  • Computer-enhanced precision
  • Increased safety
  • Faster visual recovery
  • Enhanced flap stability
  • Less incidence of dry eye
  • Better vision results

The computer enhanced precision of the WaveLight Refractive Surgery Suite results in a safer procedure that can be offered to a larger selection of patients. In fact, many patients who previously may not have been candidates for conventional, bladed LASIK can now benefit from this revolutionary technology.
