If a cataract is blurring your vision or causing colors to appear faded or yellow, then cataract surgery may be the answer. In a painless ten-minute procedure, the cloudy lens is removed through a micro-incision (less than 1/8") with a tiny ultrasound probe. An artificial intraocular lens is inserted to replace the eye’s focusing ability. In most cases, the incision is self-sealing, so stitches are not necessary.

Surgery is done on one eye at a time using topical or local anesthesia. Recovery is fast—most patients resume daily activities within hours. In fact, a majority of patients see well enough to drive to the post-operative check with their surgeon the very next day.

At Clarus, we offer the latest advances in intraocular lens implants, including:

  • ReSTOR® multifocal lenses
  • Tecnis® multifocal lenses
  • Toric (astigmatism) lenses

Using sophisticated technology, your Clarus surgeon will carefully evaluate your eyes to determine which lens option is right for you.

Cataract surgery is performed by Gary Scholes, M.D., Jay Rudd, M.D., and Stephen Reck, M.D.
